Can I plug a DC 9v power cable into DC 4.5v alarm clock?

I bought a night-light/clock for my grandmother and unforetunately it didn’t come with the power cable. It says it needs DC 4.5v. I went looking through all my cables and I found a DC 9v power cable, it fits, but can I use it?

I wouldn’t. That’s twice the voltage the clock is rated for, you could fry it.
